Hanoi City Police report that street crime is increasing. Criminals on motorcycles are snatching bags and valuables from people walking and riding motorbikes in less populated areas. While women are the primary targets, all U.S. citizens should take extra precautions.

The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi and Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City remind U.S. citizens to always maintain situational awareness, minimize displays of wealth, and travel in groups when possible. If you are targeted by thieves, do not resist, and report the incident immediately to local police and the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi or the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
