On October 14, the American Center hosted the Work with Pride dialogue between LGBT activists and Hanoi-based business community to kick off a nation-wide campaign on lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender (LGBT) equality in the workplace. The campaign was launched in Hanoi on October 14 and in HCMC on October 15. The campaign, co-organized by Viet Pride Hanoi and ICS Center in Ho Chi Minh City, is aimed at raising awareness of diversity in the workplace, in particular sexual orientation and gender identity, and encouraging corporations to take action to cultivate an LGBT-friendly environment. Clayton Bond, Ambassador Osius’ spouse, opened the dialogue and noted that “a work place that values diversity is good for business. Diversity breeds innovation, and valuing all employees aids in retention.” The Work with Pride Campaign will begin a dialogue which aims to serve as a forum for activists and members of the business community to discuss the possible venues to engage companies effectively in the LGBT movement.
