HANOI, July 2, 2014 – Ambassador David B. Shear spoke at the July 1 launch of the Vietnam-U.S. Alumni Club (VUSAC) in Hanoi. “As President Obama noted during President Sang’s visit to Washington last year to announce the Comprehensive Partnership, people-to-people relations are “the glue” that strengthens relations between our two nations. I congratulate the alumni for the formation of VUSAC and encourage you to play an active role in helping advance our bilateral relationship into its next phase. I hope you will play an important part in 2015 as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relation between the two countries,” said U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam David B. Shear at the launching ceremony.
VUSAC’s mission is to unite Vietnamese alumni from disparate U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs, organize events throughout Vietnam, work to build a strong, independent, and prosperous Vietnam, and make positive contributions to U.S.-Vietnam relations.
