All events take place at 1st Floor of the Rose Garden Tower at 170 Ngoc Khanh Street, Hanoi, except those noted otherwise. Remember to bring your ID with you. Members of the media are welcome to attend public events at the American Center. However, if you intend to being in still or video cameras, please contact the Media Team at least 24 hours in advance so we can determine whether the speaker is comfortable and, if so, request security access for your equipment. Please note that not all speakers will want to be filmed and interviewed. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

From 3:00 to 4:00 is a conversation with the Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship Nina Vaca, CEO and Chairwoman of Pinnacle. Nina Vaca will share her personal journey being an entrepreneur, how to overcome challenges that come with starting a business, and what it takes to be a successful female entrepreneur in a male dominated industry.
From 4:00 to 6:00, the returning Angel Investors from the U.S. Study tour in Denver, Boulder, Cleveland and Boston will share their experience about U.S. startup and investment practices and possible initiatives that can be adapted in Vietnam’s environment.

Nina Vaca is Chairman and CEO of Pinnacle Group, an award-winning workforce solutions company she founded in 1996. Pinnacle has experienced explosive growth under Vaca’s 20 years of leadership, and in 2015 was named Fastest Growing Woman/Led Company in the country by the Women Presidents’ Organization.

Documentary Screening and Discussion with Director of “Men in Heels”

Produced and directed by Bryan Mark Urbsaitis and newly recut in May 2016, five New York City drag queens discuss gender transformation and empowerment through their lived experiences as drag performers. The film explores how drag queens balance between their performative personas and their normal lives, fighting invisibility through community involvement as unacknowledged and overlooked superheroes in the battle for true LGBT equality.
The film will be screened on October 11, 2016 as part of Coming Out Day celebrations. National Coming Out Day is an annual LGBTI awareness day that celebrates coming out through workshops, film screenings, and other kinds of events. Please come join us at the American Center for the film screening from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

Borrowing a quote from an ancient philosopher, “The only thing that is constant is change”. Change is all around us in our world. We often struggle to avoid change. There are times we do need to accept the need to make changes especially in our daily life habits. Maybe we want to live healthier; learn a new language; stop a bad habit and start a better habit. The reasons for change can be many. Understanding the stages we progress through for change to happen in our lives can be helpful. With each stage there are tools that can help motivate us to move forward. Come learn about change; receive some helpful tools; and enjoy a time of fun learning.
