I’m happy to welcome to Vietnam my friend and colleague Deputy Secretary Antony Blinken. I’ll be joining him for meetings with senior Vietnamese government officials and representatives of civil society organizations in Hanoi and for youth engagement at the American Center Innovation Lab and meetings with private sector representatives in Ho Chi Minh City. His visit to Vietnam is further evidence of how far our bilateral relations have come in twenty years and how far we can go with our shared vision.

Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken is visiting Hanoi. He met with senior Vietnamese government officials and representatives of civil society organizations today. Discussions ranged from TPP to regional cooperation to strengthening ties to enhancing the 2013 comprehensive partnership. In this milestone 20th anniversary year, every visit and each meeting boosts confidence in the bright future of our two countries’ partnership.

Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Hanoi, Vietnam on May 16. While in Hanoi, Deputy Secretary Blinken will meet with senior Vietnamese government officials and representatives of civil society organizations. He will then travel on to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on May 19, where he will engage with youth at an American Center Innovation Lab video design competition, discuss education partnerships, and interact with private sector representatives.
