On the occasion of opening new terminal in Noi Bai International Airport, Vietnam Airlines operates new domestic and international flights.

At the end of 2013, Noi Bai International Airport officially opened its new expanded passenger terminal T1 (or Hall E). According to the investor, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), with this new expansion, congestion at Noi Bai Airport in rush hours and during the holidays will be significantly improved.
Hall E, terminal T1 expansion with a total construction area of 25.000 m2 was designed to meet the capacity of 4 million passengers/year. Hall E was completed within 8 months, with a total investment of 500 billion VND. Being put into operation since 2001, the terminal T1 has a capacity of 6 million, while in 2013 there were more than 13 million passengers back and forth. The service systems such as counters, security screenings, lounges, VIP rooms are overloaded. The project was designed to reduce the load for passenger terminal T1.
Thanks to the new Hall E, Noi Bai International Airport will increase capacity to 9 million passengers. Hall E consists of 3 floors and a mezzanine floor. In particular, hall E is facilitated with 38 normal check-in booths, 1 out of gouge check-in booth, 4 round-table luggage points, 2 escalators (1 for handicapped passengers in the immigration procedures and security control area, and 1 additional for the public hall). Security and maintenance systems are also well-equipped.
Along with terminal T1 expansion, passenger terminal T2 is currently underway. The station building was started in late 2011, with a total investment of nearly 900 million VND. Terminal T2 is a 4-floor building (not including basement) with a surface area of approximately 140,000 m2. This project is expected to be 34 months of construction and put into operation in January 11, 2014 with a capacity of 10 million passengers/year.
The Vietnam National Flag Carrier, Vietnam Airlines announced to move 10 domestic-flight counters from Noi Bai International Airport Terminal 1's Hall B to Hall E, including domestic routes departing for Vinh, Dong Hoi, Chu Lai, Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa, Da Lat, Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot, Can Tho and Phu Quoc. Other services such as the business class lounge and the lost & found desk will also be relocated in Hall E. In the first period, Vietnam Airlines passengers are advised to check-in at counters 119-127.
